Why we “age” our heaters
We don’t just slap a “waterproof” sticker on these things and call it a day. Instead, we put them through a bit of a hazing process. We lock the heaters in a high-humidity chamber, crank up the heat, and leave them there for hundreds of hours. Why? Because we want to force the materials to expand and contract over and over again. You’d think the answer is just to seal everything airtight, but that actually creates a new problem. If we seal it too tight without the right venting or high-grade gaskets, the unit can actually “sweat” on the inside as it cools down. Internal condensation is just as deadly as a splash of water from the shower. It’s a delicate balance—keeping the water out while letting the unit breathe.
