If you’re trying to sterilize catering cabinets, the old way of just leaving the heat on doesn’t really cut it. You don’t need a slow, steady glow; you need a burst of heat that hits hard and fast. That’s why we use short-wave infrared quartz elements. Most heaters take forever to warm up, but these things are different. The second you flip the switch, they’re at peak temperature. Why it actually works It all comes down to mass. Think about a thick metal heating rod—it takes ages to soak up enough energy to actually start radiating heat. We avoid that by using a thin-wall quartz glass tube with a tungsten filament inside. Because there’s so little material to heat up, it hits sterilization temps in milliseconds. You can just pulse the heat. It kills the bacteria instantly, but it doesn’t bake your cabinet chassis or bleed power while the machine is just sitting there. The nitty-gritty on setup These are basically drop-in replacements. Whether you’re building a specialized sterilization cabinet or upgrading a deck oven, they fit right in. Depending on your power setup, we wire them for 220V or 380V. If you go with the higher voltage, you can use longer tubes without worrying about the ends getting cold. You’ll usually see R7s or SK15 connectors on these. They aren’t just there to make installation easier. They create a rock-solid connection so you don’t get any sparking or burnouts when the system pulls the high current needed for that rapid heat-up. A few things to watch out for Here’s the catch: this kind of heat density is intense. These tubes get scorching hot. If your airflow is blocked or your reflectors get grimey, you might accidentally melt your surrounding wiring. You’ve also got to be smart about your switches. If you use cheap relays, the constant on-off clicking will chew through them in no time. Do yourself a favor and use solid-state relays (SSRs). If you want this thing to survive a few months of heavy daily use, it’s the only way to go.
