Ever tried using a standard space heater outside? It’s a joke. The wind just carries the warmth away before it even hits you. That’s why we stick with shortwave infrared for outdoor bars. Why it feels “Instant”
We use quartz halogen elements because they don’t mess around. The second you flip the switch, the filament glows and you feel the heat. No waiting ten minutes for a coil to warm up. To get this working with your smart home setup, we don’t just “plug it in.” We tuck a heavy-duty relay or a TRIAC dimmer into the circuit. This lets a tiny signal from your Zigbee or Matter hub tell a very powerful heater to turn on. It’s the best of both worlds: high-tech control with old-school raw power.
Dealing with the Elements
Rain, salt air, and humidity are basically the enemies of electronics. To stop your heaters from rusting or shorting out, we use IP-rated enclosures and alloys that can handle the coast. We also obsess over the wiring. These heaters pull a lot of juice, so if the wires are too thin, they’ll get hot—and not in the way you want. We use heavy-gauge wiring to keep everything safe and cool.
The “Gotchas” of Smart Heating
Here is the part where people usually mess up. You can’t just grab a cheap smart plug from the store and plug in a 2000W heater. You’ll probably fry the plug in minutes. It’s just not built for that kind of load. You need a dedicated contactor or a high-amp switch that can handle “inductive loads.” Plus, you have to be careful about how many heaters you put on one circuit. If you tell five heaters to kick on at the exact same millisecond via an app, you’re going to trip your breaker instantly. It takes a little bit of planning to balance the load, but once it’s done, you can warm up the whole patio with one tap on your phone. Pretty great.
