Getting Your Sidel Line Back Up to Speed with 2500W IR Radiators
If you’re running a Sidel PET blowing machine, you know the drill. Whether you’ve got an old-school SBO line or one of the newer Matrix systems, you just want the parts to fit and the heat to hit. That’s exactly why we built our 2500W IR radiators. They’re designed to be simple drop-in replacements. No fuss, no headaches. Let’s talk about the heat. Hitting 2500W gives you the kind of punch you need to soften those PET preforms fast. The trick is doing it without scorching the plastic. We’ve tuned these lamps to hit the exact infrared wavelengths that soak right into the plastic wall. It’s fast. Really fast. But a quick heads-up: 2500W pulls a lot of juice. If you’re swapping these into an older SBO unit, take a second to check your wiring. You don’t want to fry your power rails just because the old cables can’t handle the current. The “Will it Fit?” Factor Sidel changed things up moving from SBO to Matrix—different brackets, different tolerances, the usual. It can be a pain. We handled that by mirroring the original OEM quartz tubes exactly. The connectors are standard, so they just slide right into the oven housing. You won’t be spending your afternoon drilling new holes or hacking together adapters. You just swap them out and get back to work. The Nitty Gritty We use high-purity quartz and a specific halogen fill to keep the filament steady. This stops that annoying “darkening” you see with the cheap stuff. Plus, the coating pushes the heat forward into the preform instead of letting it bleed back into the housing. One thing, though. These are tough on heat but fragile to the touch. If you misalign them even slightly during installation, the tube can crack once it starts expanding from the heat. And please—wear gloves. Even a tiny bit of oil from your skin creates a hot spot that’ll kill the lamp’s lifespan way faster than it should.
