
The Secret to Better Bathroom Heaters
Ever stepped into a freezing bathroom on a winter morning? It’s the worst. That’s why we use short-wave infrared heaters—they hit you with warmth the second you flip the switch. No waiting for the air to warm up. Just instant heat. But there’s a catch. When you put these heaters in a ceiling, especially in a place where kids or babies are hanging out, you’ve got a problem: the light. Standard halogen bulbs are blinding. They put out a harsh, white glare and UV rays that you really don’t want staring right into a child’s eyes. Fixing the glare We solved this by adding a special coating to the quartz glass. Think of it like a pair of sunglasses for the heater. It blocks out those piercing blue lights and UV rays but lets the actual heat slide right through. Instead of a blinding white spotlight, you get a soft, warm glow. You still get all the heat you need to dry off in a damp bathroom, but without the eye strain. Keeping things cool (where it matters) Building these into a ceiling is tricky. You’ve got moisture floating around and a lot of heat packed into a tiny space. First, we use high-temp quartz. Why? Because the glass expands and shrinks quickly as it heats up and cools down. Cheap glass would just crack. Then there’s the housing. We use aluminum or other heavy-duty conductors to move that heat away from the ceiling. If you use cheap materials, you’ll end up with scorched ceiling tiles or, even worse, melted wiring. Nobody wants that. The trade-off Now, here’s the honest truth: there is a compromise. Because we’re filtering out the visible light to keep eyes safe, the heater isn’t as “bright” as a standard lamp. If you were hoping to use your heater as your main bathroom light, you’ll find it a bit dim. But when it comes to a nursery or a family bathroom, safety wins every time. A little less light is a small price to pay for peace of mind.
